So Much Fun, Snow or No Snow

In the last seven days we have experienced
the typical weather swings of winter in the Sandhills.
So last Friday we enjoyed the last of the snow
with Claire and Evan.

Beware of Bigfoot.  Or is it Mr. Peanut?

Signs of deer activity didn't appear
until the third fourth day of snow.

Plenty of other tracks of birds and small creatures.

I'm not talking about these small creatures, who are
actually getting quite big!  And doesn't Evan look like
a real super hero armed with those boppers?

The snow may have been disappearing, but that
led to giant sized icicles.  this one was taller than
the kids, and almost as tall as me.

Grandpa, take the picture before global warming
takes away all the snow!

Okay, picture time's over.  Giddyap, Grandpa!

With the snow we had left, I gave the kids
the longest ride available.  They had already
had plenty more at their own house.

Less than a week later, the weather was still
cool, but no sign of snow when Brianna and
Hunter showed up primed for play.
It had probably been at least a year since I tried to
interest any of the kids in the old Sit-n-Spin.  BINGO!
Instant hit!

It's always smart to have two of anything that's
addictive.  We actually have THREE, and have given
away others that we acquired at yard sales.  This toy
is loads of fun and a good energy burner.  Glad I had
them out today, because at some point kids outgrow them.
Double Action and oh, what fun!

We later made up a game in which I would
call out instructions for the spinners.  Hunter
did this, too, but not when I did the video.

Bri is a woman of contradictions:
Flower child with a smokin' six-shooter (vintage 1950's)

All four of the grandkids are getting more and more
interested in letters and words,  And TALKING!

Remember the not-so-long ago days when I pulled
the kids down to the stream?  Today, they insisted
on doing the pulling.  Purely for exercise, since they
had no passengers, but what a couple of workers!
That's a long walk!
This is quite a workout program Bri and
Hunter have devised.

At the stream, we did the closest thing to ice-fishing
that we could: hockey stick fishing.

I got one, I got one!  But you should have
seen the one that got away!
Here's how it works:

Bottom line: any kind of weather, WE GOT FUN!
