Phone System and Kitchenette for the Tree House

I thought it would be raining by the time I got
outside today, but the rain held off.  And thanks to
that, I was able to upgrade our tree house telephone.

I started with a flexible piece of tubing from an
old vacuum cleaner (not ours).

I cut the tubing into three pieces and used
duct tape to attach each to our existing
"extensions" in the tree house.  This one
can be accessed from either the ground level
or the first floor.  Or even from this ladder.

Now you don't have to risk your neck to
speak on this first floor extension.  It's long
enough to use from ground floor, 1st floor,
or the top floor "penthouse."

It's flexible, long-reaching, and a pleasant
soft rubbery feel for the mouth or ears.

The third extension is equally versatile,
reachable from a variety of locations.

It even reaches to the mobile phone that
Claire brought to the tree house this week.

So we're all set for communications now.

And that's not all.  Claire and Evan hauled
a couple of loads of kitchen utensils, balls,
and other odds and ends to the tree house
yesterday.  But not until today did I get
to take one of our three play kitchens to the
site.  I think it's a logical place for it, because
these kids simply have to be able to cook,
wherever they are.

If the weather cooperates, they'll all get a
chance to try out the latest amenities within
the next few days.
