Ken and Judy's Excellent Babysitting Adventure, Part II

It's taken me a few days, but I'm finally posting the rest of my photos from our grand weekend babysitting Claire and Evan.  This blog features all four grandchildren, because Amanda brought Brianna and Hunter over for a visit that Saturday.  What a time we had!  Here's just a glimpse of the fun.

For some reason, Bri and Claire thought the thing to do was revert back to babyhood and take over (as in recapture) these playthings from their little brothers.  Then they pretended to be having the time of their lives.

While the girls played merrily, I laid Evan (left) and Hunter (right) on the bed in the adjacent bedroom, hoping to get a good picture. To my surprise, they lay there happily for ten minutes or more, just basking in their togetherness.  Just bear with me as I share several of these shots.

Hunter: "Hey, Evan, straighten up.  Grandpa's getting photo evidence on us again."

"I love you, you love me, we're a happy family. . . ."

Hunter:  "Hurry up and snap it before my face cracks, Grandpa!"

Evan: "Wow, your hand tastes way better than mine, cuz.  What flavor is this?"

Hunter: "I'm not sure what flavor it is.  Whatever baby soap Mommy had a coupon for."

Boys:  "Listen, if we hold hands for this picture will you let us get on the floor?"

Evan:  "Hey, Hunter, I'll let you chew on my hand if you'll give me a few pointers on rolling over."
(Note: Evan started rolling over this week.  A little suspicious, eh?)

Hunter:  "Okay, here's a helpful hint.  You lift your legs up in the air, then swing them in the direction you want to roll.  Daddy says it gives you something called 'momentum.'"

Hunter: "Very good, Evan.  Now for extra style points, you can do it criss-cross applesauce, like so."

Grandpa:  "Okay, boys, just humor me with one more picture.  Then I'll let you play whatever you like."

Meanwhile, the girls had found another worthy pastime in Claire's room: jewelry!
Even though she's bashful, Bri was caught modeling some fine, dangly earrings.

Claire isn't stand-offish about parading her baubles.  At least not today.

Back to those boys, enjoying their promised floor time.
Evan:  "That's cool, Hunter, but isn't it a lot of work to hold your head up?  Well, not your head in particular, but one's head."

Isn't it funny how whatever seems like fun for the boys is very appealing for the girls just a moment later?

It's a fact: Claire and Bri still can have a rollicking good time cavorting on the floor.  They can teach those boys a trick or two.

Amanda treats the whole crew to bubble time.  The fascination of those bubbles, never ends, whether you're watching them, blowing them, chasing them, or popping them.

Let's end on an educational note.  Taking after engineering-minded Matt, Evan is studying molecular structure.  The color-coded model helps him make sense of Einstein's theories.

Such as, "IT GO BOOM!"
That weekend wasn't the last of our babysitting adventures recently.  Besides some shorter daytime stints, we were able to keep Hunter and Bri for 24 hours.  I still can't believe I didn't have my camera!  But I surely do have some treasured memories.  And there will be more photo opportunities soon.  Many, many more!
