Because the recent nature trail work was done
during Easter vacation, my grandchildren were
actually the first kids to sample the new trail. They
saw the men at work and gave a vigorous thumbs-up
to all that they say.
On Thursday afternoon, the first day of work, Bri and Hunter watched as the men unloaded a load of hardwood chips. |
Bri and Judy are off to the bridge. |
And Hunter is in hot pursuit, leaving Grandpa in the dust. Well, there's no dust any more! |
With Grandma supervising, it's okay to cross over into No Man's Land. |
It brings me great happiness to share this decades- long project with my grandchildren. I hope it will always be there for them and children like them. |
Bri finds it a little difficult to sit in Grandpa's lap while leaning on Jack, Will, and Tom, our iconic poplar tree / trio / Tree-o ! |
Hunter seems pretty impressed with that view of the top of these towering poplars. |
The next day, Claire and Evan had their
chance to visit the trail for the first time.
The men would complete their work by
the time we left.
Most often, Evan is the one smiling for the camera and saying "Cheese." But it's different when there's a Caterpillar tractor to watch and listen to! |
Grandma and Claire pose on the same bridge that Mom Jennifer was photographed on 25 years ago. |
Claire thinks the entrance to the trail is pretty cool, too. |
Grandpa and Evan venture into No Man's Land while Grandma snaps the picture and Claire protects Grandma. |
Claire and Evan notice everything, like this little tree with a troll hole. Wonders are everywhere. |
