Time Marches On-- and so must blogs Part One

One of Daddy's favorite sayings was
"Time marches on."  He definitely took
life as it came and made the best of things.
I don't think he even needs the internet to
gaze down and smile on the activities of
his four great-grandchildren from heaven.
Even better, Mama is at his side, and both
of them have the heavenly equivalent of
20/20 vision-- which is far superior to our
earthly version.  At least, that's the way I
picture things in heaven.  But I imagine it's
even better than I think.

Anyway, Daddy would be happy to see us
getting back to the happy daily activities of
family life.  And as we do so, I smile to think
of him watching and enjoying, just as he often
chuckled over the phone when I related what
this latest generation had been up to.  So here goes:

One righty and one lefty.  At least for today.

Evan:  "Don't even think about copying off my paper!"

Claire puts her personal stamp of creativity on
how to sit in a chair.  And to look cool doing it.

And Evan says, "Who needs a chair?
Grandma's foot is just fine for me."

This is one last hurrah from Hunter's birthday party.
Unlike the pictures from my own camera, this one
shows all four grandchildren's faces.

Fast forward to mid-October.  The Talbert's
celebrated Halloween when Faith Baptist
Church held their fall festival, so we got to
see the kids dressed up a little early.  Isn't
Brianna a beautiful Cinderella?

Notice, I said "dressed up," but not necessarily in
costume.  Hunter didn't mind carry a wand, but putting
on a costume of any kind must of seemed too close akin
to a coat and tie.  After all, it's all about candy, right?

Well, all about candy and playing at Grandma
and Grandpa's house.

In fact, in their brief stopover, they just wanted to do
some of their favorite weekly activities at our house.
Like watching slideshows and videos on the computer.
I bet some eagle-eyed readers can identify the
celebrities on screen.

Then Bri decides it's time for a little
night music.  She's quite talented both
as herself and in her Cinderella persona.

"Grandpa, how many keys do I have to
hit to make a song?"

"Look, everybody-- no hands!"
A very difficult feat.  And you can almost
count those teeth.

Hunter, who has gotten into some sort of animal
genetic engineering by now, seems unimpressed.

"Do you really think I'm smiling like this just for
Hunter?"

Hunter: "Okay, we got what we came for.  Let's hit
the road."  A couple of real sentimentalists.

A few days later, Bri shares some big sister wisdom:
"Hunter, if you think Halloween was good, just wait
until Christmas!"

More "catch-up" pictures will follow soon!
