No Finer Guy than Harold Pickett

I guess with a name like Pickett, my friend Harold was destined to become a guitar picker. And what a picker he is. In the last few years he has branched out into bluegrass, country, and bluegrass gospel and it has opened up whole new worlds for him. Harold is a people person, a dedicated Christian, and a gifted individual who loves to share his talents and God's love.

Here's Harold at Clyde Maness's Music Barn, where he can often be found on Tuesday nights Midway between Carthage and Robbins on Highway 24-27 in Moore County.
Here's Harold on one of several mission trips to Rock Cave, West Virginia. Harold's guitar added a new dimension to our Christian song-fests. In fact, it was about five years ago that Harold and I both had an epiphany of sorts in getting into bluegrass gospel while in Rock Cave.

Harold Pickett is featured in this clip of "Folsom Prison Blues" at the 75th Highfalls Fiddlers Convention this past Saturday night. Harold's fingers move like lightning. Haven't seen anything faster since Bruce Lee in "Fists of Fury." More from the Fiddlers Convention in a future blog post.

The next thing I want to see from Harold is a video of his new trademark, a hot lick called "Pickett's Charge." GO HAROLD!
