First Friday-- The Sand Band and Cool Groupies

Friday, May 1, Southern Pines hosted their first "First Friday" event of 2009. We had been to one last summer and were impressed.

This First Friday featured music by the Sand Band, so we didn't want to miss it.

Because seeing the Sand Band means a chance to see Judy's brother Tim, aka Drummer Boy.
Steve Lapping sings and plays guitar. He lives and breathes beach music and other oldies.

Judy and Renee meet new friends wherever they go.

"If I can just get this collar off, you'll be a free doggie!"

When Matt and Jennifer show up, we know we're where the action is.
Jessie and Emma show off their Sandhills Farm Life T-shirts.
Jessie's visited the face painting booth for a peace sign.

If you sit perfectly still this won't hurt a bit. . . .
Did she paint a smiley face or a frownie face?

Aunt Juju wants in on this action.
Balloon animals and hula hoops add to the festivities.

And old people try to make little kids dance, since the other old people are reluctant to cooperate.

When the King and Queen of the groupies arrive (Judy's Mom and Dad, Jack and Thelma), we can confirm that this is the focal point of Southern Pines night life tonight--at least until 8 p.m.
The Sand Band ROCKS! Long live First Friday!
